Yes. A lot of older homes in LA were never built with ducts, so we install and service ductless mini-split systems as often as we do central air. If your house has window units right now, we can talk you through what a mini-split setup would actually look like.

We do both. Homes are where we're growing right now, but we still take on commercial jobs — rooftop units, commercial maintenance, the works.

Before anything else, check your air filter. A clogged filter is the single most common reason an AC runs without cooling — it restricts airflow so badly that the system can't move enough air across the coil, and in bad cases, the coil freezes over entirely. If your filter looks gray and dusty instead of clean, replace it and give the system a few hours to catch up. If that doesn't fix it, the problem is something else.

What Usually Causes It

Past the filter, the most common culprits are a frozen evaporator coil (often caused by that same airflow problem, or by low refrigerant), a dirty outdoor condenser unit that can't release heat properly, a weak blower motor not moving enough air, or a thermostat that's miscalibrated or set wrong. In older homes across LA, leaky or disconnected ductwork can also let cooled air escape before it reaches your rooms.

If There's Ice on the Unit, Turn It Off

If you see ice on the indoor coil or the refrigerant lines, shut the system off completely. Running it while frozen can damage the compressor, which turns a simple repair into a much bigger one. Let it thaw for a few hours, then call us. If it freezes again after thawing, that usually points to something deeper than a dirty filter — most often low refrigerant.
